The aim of therapy for teens is to set them up to be healthy and hopeful individuals as they grow into adulthood.

Therapy begins with a thorough assessment to determine the underlying issues and treatment needs. Gathering of information is usually via the teen and significant figures in the teen’s life followed by recommendations for appropriate treatment. There is no set timescale for therapy and this is dependent on both internal and external factors.

Appropriate parental involvement is essential to develop a better understanding of their teen and make necessary changes to create a safe and healthy environment for them to thrive. The importance of a respectful and secure relationship between parent and teen cannot be overemphasised.
