Disability SupportDisability Support

Link & Relate adopts an inclusive philosophy towards individuals with disability. Despite the presence of a diagnosed learning or developmental disability, many young people can learn to function independently and thrive in their capacity. Yet, often, they struggle emotionally and do not receive appropriate attention and support in this area as they grow through their adolescent years and adulthood. This can affect their ability to connect with peers and develop friendships. Families may struggle to understand the needs of the individual, and teachers may have difficulties optimising their potential academically and socially. As a result, young people with disability often feel isolated and misunderstood.

Link & Relate offers support to these young people and helps families, teachers and employers understand and better meet their needs. We also provide consultation to professionals and schools on the provision of disability support in an educational setting.

Whilst Link & Relate does not provide psychological assessment and diagnosis for individuals suspected to have a disability, we provide guidance and assistance to families following a diagnosis to address the changing needs of the individuals and their families. Based on the reports that you may have already received from other therapists (such as psychologists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, etc.) and together with our evaluation of the presenting issues, we provide appropriate follow-up support services including the following:
